Jack H. Brown, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Stater Bros.
Markets, and Dave Stockton, PGA Champion and Tournament Host, were both raised
in San Bernardino, California. Although they attended different schools, they
began a friendship that has lasted more than half a century. Their years of
dedication to helping the local region are well documented, yet "Heroes
Challenge" is their first ever joint endeavor to benefit the community.
In two years, "Heroes Challenge" has become the biggest charity golf event in
this region, both in its execution as well as funds
raised. Nearly $1 million has been provided to local charities focusing on
critical needs in the communities Stater Bros. serves. This year, Tournament
proceeds will be donated to local organizations that are assisting and caring
for our Nation's Veterans and Heroes to our Country's heartland.
The Stater Bros. Charities Dave Stockton Heroes Challenge is part of an even
larger dream for Jack Brown, who had envisioned the creation of Stater Bros.
Charities years ago. Stater Bros. Charities was launched with great fanfare at
the 2008 "Heroes Challenge" and continues to be involved in many community
events which support countless local charities.
